Workout SNAPSHOT

Onfitt is Valencia’s first women-only workout studio, offering one of the most traditional reformer Pilates experiences in the city. The class emphasizes classical principles, especially the connection between breath, movement, and core engagement.

With only four Merriweather reformers, the small class size allows the instructor to give detailed, personalized corrections to ensure proper alignment and safe movement.

Sessions begin with core work on the stationary reformer before progressing to exercises using the moving carriage, with spring resistance adjusted to each participant’s strength. The workout includes footwork, leg and glute exercises, as well as arm and core movements, often enhanced with props like a Pilates ball or ring.

The atmosphere is focused and quiet, with no music, making it easier to concentrate on technique. Even if you don’t speak Spanish, the instructor’s hand cues and occasional English keywords make the class easy to follow. The session ends with a gentle stretch, leaving you feeling balanced and energized.

THE FULL SCOOP

Onfitt is the first women-only workout studio in Valencia. Their reformer class is probably the most traditional reformer experience we’ve tried in the city. It stays true to the core principles of reformer Pilates, especially the connection between breath and movement. In classical Pilates, breathing engages the deep core muscles, supports efficient movement, and helps maintain spinal alignment.

The studio is equipped with 4 Merriweather reformer machines, keeping class sizes small and ensuring the instructor can give personalized guidance and corrections, making every movement safer and more effective. She will ensure your rib cage is closed, the core is engaged, and the pelvic floor is activated – all essential in reformer Pilates to protect the spine and create a stable foundation for movement. Pelvic floor engagement is particularly important in reformer work because many exercises involve the lower body pushing against the reformer’s resistance. Proper activation prevents injury while enhancing strength.

The class starts out with core exercises on the reformer bed while it remains stationary – essentially like a mat Pilates warm-up. This allows for proper focus on precision, breathing, and alignment before getting into the workout with a moving bed. Springs will determine resistance levels for each exercise, with the instructor adjusting them according to your strength levels.

You will be moving through a series of movements, starting out with foot work on the foot bar, such as calf raises and the pilates V – heels together, toes turned out and pushing the bar to target inner thighs, hip rotators and pelvic stability. You’ll transition to exercises that target legs and glutes, such as the pilates frog and will then move into arms and core work, such as the mermaid. Props like the pilates ball or ring can be added for additional challenge and variety.

The class is intentionally quiet and focused – no background music, just precise instruction and individual adjustments. Even though this class is in Spanish, the instructor’s hand indications as well as keywords in English will ensure you know how to follow even if you don’t speak Spanish.

The reformer session concludes with a short, relaxing stretch, leaving the body both energized and balanced. It’s a perfect workout for anyone who wants to target their stabilizing muscles and posture with an emphasis on breath, alignment, and true reformer technique.
