THE FULL SCOOP

Beach Monkeyz in El Gouna is a versatile workout space that caters to a wide range of fitness interests – from pure cardio to strength training and hybrid formats. The workout space sits in El Gouna’s sports district, a hub of activity with padel, tennis, volleyball and other outdoor courts and facilities. Classes are drop-in friendly which makes working out easy if you’re only visiting for a few days. You can simply show up and join – just check their latest schedule on Instagram or Whatsapp for more details.

If you’re looking to do some cardio that isn’t running, padel…or diving, their spin class is a great option. It runs for about 40–45 min, starting with a short warm-up ride. You’ll pedal to the beat of the music – if you’ve done indoor cycling elsewhere, this won’t be new to you. Use the resistance knob in the middle of the bike to increase or lower resistance levels, adjusting as you go to keep your legs moving to the beat. Classes are low to medium intensity overall, with mostly seated sections and linited standing work. Class ends with a cool-down stretch. The bikes aren’t the newest – some feel noticeably better than others – so it’s worth picking one you like before class begins. Training outdoors definitely makes for a great experience, when there’s a breeze it’s so pleasant to ride in the open air.

For strength training, join the Weightlifting class which is about 60min long and begins with a warm-up to prepare your joints and muscles for heavier loads. The instructor takes time to explain and demonstrate each movement clearly. This makes the class very accessible for beginners, as she corrects form and ensures you understand proper setup and technique. Each session has a slightly different focus; the one we attended included single-arm clean and presses, barbell lunges at the rack, chest press, biceps curls, and overhead triceps presses. You’ll do multiple sets (typically 3–4) of low reps with heavier weights, or descending reps with increasing weight. Every class ends with a decent stretch to help with recovery.

Beach Monkeyz’ Hyrox class blends strength and cardio in a station format tailored to the number of participants, rotating through cardio stations like the airbike, rower, skierg or burpees alternated with strength movements such as farmer’s carry or shoulder presses. Each station runs for 60secs followed by 30secs of rest and you’ll complete all 7 stations for a total of 3 rounds. The pace stays engaging, keeping your heart rate up throughout the class, and – like the other workouts – it begins with a thorough warm-up and finishes with a good stretch to help your body transition and recover.

Across all formats, the community at Beach Monkeyz is friendly and welcoming, which makes it easy to feel at home even if you’re just passing through El Gouna. Drop-in options make it convenient if you’re visiting for a short stay, while multi-class packages offer a better rate if you plan to train regularly during your time in town.
