If you’re a spinning enthusiast who’s tried SoulCycle or similar studios, get ready for a whole new level of fun and intensity at Rockcycle – an indoor cycling studio with two locations in Buenos Aires. The warm, energetic spirit of Argentina shines through in every class, making the vibe as uplifting as the workout itself.
If it’s your first time at the studio or at a spin class in general, aim to arrive about 10 minutes early. The staff will help you locate the QR code in your online account for check-in and assist with setting up your bike. You’ll be given a towel for the workout, and then you can head to the shoe closet to pick up your spin shoes – unless you’ve brought your own. Go up about two sizes from your regular shoe size, and wait to put them on until you’ve walked up the stairs to avoid slipping on the stairs.
Before class, you can refill your water bottle in the changing room and store your valuables in the lockers located either upstairs or downstairs. Then, make your way into the cycling room. You’ll find buckets of dumbbells near the instructor’s podium for the arm workout segment of the class. Just a heads-up: 2kg weights are limited, so grab them early or opt for 2 pairs of 1kg weights instead.
Find your assigned Schwinn bike and get set up – feel free to ask the instructor for help if you’re new, or adjust it yourself if you’re already familiar with spin classes. Once you’re ready, hop on the saddle, clip in your shoes, and start pedaling.
The setup is similar to most indoor cycling studios: a dimly lit room with mood lighting that shifts to match the energy of the music and the instructor’s vibe. Classes are led in Spanish, though some instructors will call out resistance levels in English if they know there’s an English speaker in the room. But don’t worry – your main focus is to pedal to the beat. If you’re going too fast, turn the resistance knob to the right to add weight; if it feels too heavy, turn it to the left to lighten it up.
So far, no other indoor cycling class we’ve tried in the world quite compares to the energy and atmosphere of a class at Rockcycle in Argentina. We do love spin classes since they don’t feel like a workout but more like a dance party – the one in Argentina is definitely on another level with everyone fully immersed in the moment. The entire room comes alive, with riders singing, cheering, and waving towels along with the instructor from start to finish.
Instructors will lead you through different sections, with a lot of sprints and choreographies on the handle bars. Don’t worry about following all of them to the T, it’s all about immersing yourself in the atmosphere and having fun.
The room is air-conditioned, but don’t expect to stay dry—it’s a high-intensity cardio workout, and you’ll be sweating a lot. A quick stretch at the end gives you a moment to cool down, and before you know it, class is over. You’ll walk out on an endorphin high, already thinking about booking your next ride.
Keep an eye out for their themed rides, which often spotlight specific music genres or artists. They also offer special double or extended sessions that run 60 minutes instead of the usual 45.
Please note that we’ve only visited their Palermo Hollywood location, but the experience at their Recoleta studio should be quite similar as it mainly depends on the instructor leading the class. The easiest way to book a trial class is by messaging the team on WhatsApp. They’ll also help you set up an account, where you can view the weekly schedule and book your preferred classes. The schedule is usually released every Sunday, and spots with popular instructors tend to fill up fast – so it’s a good idea to plan ahead. We’ve noticed that the bike chart online doesn’t always match the actual bike numbers in the studio. Once you’ve attended a class, just take note of your favorite spot – then you can easily book that same one for your next visit.
