Workout SNAPSHOT

The 60min Signature Barre class in Vienna’s 5th district gives you a well-rounded, full-body workout rooted in ballet – combining graceful barre-based movements with strength, endurance, and core training.

The studio is cozy and tastefully decorated, with a welcoming entrance. Once inside, you pick a barre height suitable for your body (low barre on your right, high barre on your left) and train barefoot or in grip socks, whichever you prefer.

The instructor is attentive and gives clear guidance throughout, ensuring good form and alignment. Thanks to small, controlled movements and high repetition, Barre builds endurance and tones muscles without bulk, while also enhancing posture, flexibility, balance and overall body awareness. At the end, a brief stretch helps you relax and leave feeling refreshed and aligned.

THE FULL SCOOP

The 60min Signature Barre class at Barre Club in Vienna delivers a balanced workout that fuses the grace and control of ballet with strength, endurance, and core training.

The studio is compact but beautifully designed, a colourful wallpapered entrance area doubles as a lounge – a nice spot to wait or enjoy a coffee after class. Inside the studio, wall-mounted barres line the room. Depending on your height you can choose the higher barre (on the left hand side) or lower barre (on your right when entering the room), which is a nice practical detail that shows they consider different body types. You can work out barefoot or wear grip socks, whichever you prefer.

The Signature class begins with a brief warm-up, then flows into a series of ballet-inspired barre sequences. Throughout the class you engage in controlled movements – squats, pliés, calf raises and pulses – usually enhanced with light props like a Pilates ball or small weights. The movements are designed to target multiple muscle groups: legs (quads, glutes), inner thighs and hips, calves, core, and arms.

Because many of the moves use small, controlled motions – often isometric holds or pulses – barre is excellent for building muscle endurance and toning rather than bulk.

The combination of balance, core engagement, and range-of-motion work also helps improve posture, flexibility, and stability: muscles supporting your spine, hips, and pelvis get activated along with the major working muscles.

The instructor is attentive and guides with clear cues, correcting form and helping keep alignment right. The class ends with a short stretch, leaving you feeling centered and your muscles lengthened.
