Workout SNAPSHOT

Core Collective introduces the Megaformer to Lisbon with small-group classes that combine strength, endurance, and stability for a full-body workout.

The 50min sessions use slow, controlled movements that keep muscles under constant tension – high-intensity yet low-impact, making them tough but joint-friendly. Expect exercises like lunges, plank-to-pike, or the reverse wheelbarrow to target your core, lower and upper body.

Each move lasts 60–90 seconds at a deliberately slow pace to fire up those stabilizing muscles and boost metabolism. The studio has a boutique-zen feel, with mirrored walls, neutral tones, and a clean, modern design. With showers, lockers, and towels provided, it’s an easy workout to fit into your daily routine.

THE FULL SCOOP

Core Collective brings the Megaformer to Lisbon with sleek, small-group classes that blend strength, endurance, and stability training into one serious full-body session. Think Pilates reformer but high-intensity.

First-timers should arrive 10–15 minutes early to check in at reception and get a walk through of the studio amenities. Once you’ve put on your grip socks (available to purchase at the front desk if you don’t have a pair), head into the Xformer room and pick one of the eight Megaformer machines. If it’s your first time, the instructor will guide you through the setup, showing you how to use the carriage and safely adjust the springs (two blue and five yellow, each affecting the level of resistance). The Megaformer itself is longer than a traditional reformer, with extra handles and platform straps that make high-intensity moves possible.

The Megaformer workout runs for 50 min and moves in slow, controlled sequences designed to keep your muscles under constant tension and push them toward fatigue. It’s a high-intensity, low-impact format: gentle on the joints but with a strong emphasis on core stability and overall body strength. Unlike traditional reformer Pilates, the programming is built to keep your heart rate elevated, boosting metabolism while building lean muscle.

Expect a mix of full body exercises, such as plank to pikes, lunges, the catfish or the reverse wheelbarrow that really targets your core but also works your arms, shoulders and legs for stability. Each move lasts 60–90 seconds and the tempo is deliberately slow, firing up those stabilizing muscles you rarely notice in other workouts.

The class structure typically cycles through core, lower body and upper body. Transitions are quick, but the instructor cues every change clearly, offering modifications for beginners and challenges for those who do reformer pilates classes on a regular basis.

The vibe is very boutique-zen: mirrored walls, neutral tones combined with an energizing playlist.

When class wraps, you’ll finish with a guided stretch before heading back through the airy lounge. Showers, lockers, and towels are all on hand, so you can easily roll this into a pre-work or lunch-hour routine.
