Workout SNAPSHOT

Momax is a recently opened Reformer Pilates studio in Berlin-Mitte with a calm atmosphere and 10 Allegro Reformer machines. The studio sits behind a large window front on Gipsstr., but you enter through the house entrance on the left and ring the bell to be let inside.

We took the 55min Reformer Intermedium class, a traditional session centered on aligning breath with movement. After warming up with footwork to mobilize the joints, the class progressed through sequences targeting the legs, core and arms with controlled, flowing movements against spring resistance.

Reformer Pilates delivers a full-body workout that builds strength and stability while enhancing flexibility, posture and body awareness by engaging deep stabilizing muscles throughout. The session ended with leg circles and the frog exercise – where you lie on your back with your feet in straps and gently press outward and inward to activate the inner thighs, hip flexors and deep core – followed by a cool-down stretch.

The Intermedium class had a smooth, steady flow with minimal breaks, and the instructor offered hands-on adjustments and clear form cues throughout. If you’re new to the reformer, starting with a Beginner or All Levels class might help you feel more confident before moving up to this tempo

THE FULL SCOOP

Momax is a recently opened Reformer Pilates studio in Mitte. From the outside you’ll spot its large window front on Gipsstr. but be sure to enter through the house entrance on the left and ring the bell, as the door on the façade isn’t the entrance. Once inside, you can leave your jacket and shoes in the small entry area before choosing one of the 10 Allegro Reformer machines.

We took the 55min Reformer Intermedium class, a traditional reformer Pilates session that focuses on smoothly aligning breath with movement. After starting with footwork to warm up the joints, the class progressed through sequences targeting legs, core and arms with controlled, flowing movements using the reformer’s spring resistance. Reformer Pilates offers a full-body workout that builds strength and stability while improving flexibility, posture and body awareness – the adjustable springs on your reformer machine and sliding carriage help increase range of motion and activate deep stabilizing muscles throughout the session.

At the end of class we moved into leg circles and the frog – where you lie on your back with your feet in straps and gently press outward and inward – a move that deeply engages the inner thighs, hip flexors and deep core while encouraging breath control and precision, before finishing with a calm cool-down stretch.

The Intermedium class had a nice, steady flow, moving smoothly between exercises without long breaks or overly detailed explanations, which kept the pace engaging. If you’re new to the reformer, though, starting with a Beginner or All Levels class first might help you feel more confident in the exercise patterns before jumping into this tempo. Throughout the session the instructor offered hands-on adjustments and form cues, ensuring movements felt safe, effective and well-aligned.
